Thermoplastic Pavement Markings in Florida

Mix Brothers Construction installs heat-applied thermoplastic lines, symbols, and traffic-control markings for eligible commercial, industrial, roadway, and municipal pavement projects across Florida.

Thermoplastic creates a thicker marking than conventional traffic paint and may be specified for higher-use locations. Pavement type, existing markings, traffic, surface condition, plan details, and governing requirements determine whether it is the right system.

Thermoplastic Marking Applications

  • Lane lines and edge lines
  • Crosswalks and stop bars
  • Directional arrows and traffic symbols
  • Words, legends, and turn markings
  • Loading and conflict-zone markings
  • New layouts and marking replacement
  • Reflective systems by specification
  • Commercial and municipal applications

When Thermoplastic May Be Appropriate

Thermoplastic is often considered where traffic wear, marking thickness, reflectivity, or project specifications call for more than routine paint. It is not automatically the best material for every parking lot or pavement. Substrate compatibility, traffic level, layout, budget, and maintenance plans should guide the selection.

Surface and Layout Preparation

The pavement must be suitable, dry, and properly prepared. Existing markings or contaminants may require treatment before layout. Placement follows approved dimensions and the selected material system, with attention to application temperature, thickness, glass beads when specified, and clean edges.

Coordinate Markings With the Paving Schedule

New asphalt may require a marking sequence established by the project specifications. On active sites, work zones and temporary traffic control are planned so markings can be installed and allowed to set before traffic returns. Final acceptance criteria are confirmed for the individual project.
